The Hills are Alive………...with the Sound of Thunder!

As we sit in Harry with the thunder rumbling and the rain coming down in stair rods, we feel grateful for the protection that Harry gives us. The last time we were anywhere near this area we were experiencing the same weather, but that was 32 years ago when we were on the bike and our accommodation was a tent. That was the moment Rachel set a new minimum requirement for travel accommodation……….an en suite!

We had earmarked a campsite, yes that’s not a typo, a campsite, to stop at just over the border into Austria where we could get wifi, use their washing machines and generally get sorted before our venture into unchartered territories. When we arrived, the reception was closed for 2 more hours, the washing machines were being used and they charged extra for wifi. All of that was enough for us to head on along the sweeping country roads through classic Austrian scenery, even though the weather was doing its best to obscure the vista. We got fuel at a knock down price compared to Italy so all in all it was a excursion we enjoyed taking. By mid afternoon we had returned to Italy and picked out a free aire at Lago Superiore right by the Slovenian border.

The weather forecast for Thursday is supposed to be wall to wall sunshine which would be great for our Lake Bled swim! The plan is to tootle over the border tomorrow and hopefully find a place to stay near the lake, but none of our plans are set in stone.
